Cheap Ar15

Bushmaster ORC
Often see the Bushmaster ORC (Optics Ready Carbine) for sale under $700

The best AR for hunting for under a grand is the DPMS Oracle 7.62. But it is an AR-10 in .308/ 7.62 Nato:
DPMS Oracle
DPMS Oracle also comes in a AR15 configuration...with about a $650.00 price point...
There is also the DPMS Sportical - no dust cover or Forward Assist...
(MSRP is $1099, but you can get it retail for $950)
If you MUST have a .223/ 5.56, then go for the Bushmaster

Bushmaster CAR15 223 16 BSH REDDOT

The Bushmaster Carbon15 is a cheap priced AR15. With a price around $700-$850 (depending on where you are pricing it at). They are very lite. Weighing in at only 5.5-5.7 pounds make this a pretty good selection for any AR shooter. The new Carbon15's have been upgraded in all the problem areas and are surprisingly a good AR for the money now.

Right now with the price of AR15's out the roof you can't go wrong with a AK-47. You can pick one of these bulletproof AK-47's up for around $500-$700 and you cant go wrong.

Ultimate AR-15 Scope-Mod 1

Ultimate AR-15 Scope – MOD 1
Ultimate AR-15 Scope
Of the thousands of AR-15 scopes we sell every year, this one out sells all the rest.  It’s a 3-9×42 Tactical Scope with a mini red dot sight mounted on top.  With the MOD 1 upgrade you can now choose between the standard mini red dot sight or upgrade to the Burris Fastfire Sight.  This scope, with the Burris Fastfire on top, is probably one of the best scopes you can buy under $500!  The 3-9x magnification lets you get those longer range shots and the red dot on top is perfect for close range, self defense style shooting.  The scope has an illuminated MilDot or Sniper reticle (your choice) and a bullet drop compensator calibrated for the 55 grain .223 bullet out to 500 yards.  Quick release mount also comes standard on this scope.

The Ultimate AR-15 scope is exactly what you've been looking for! It offers everything you want in an AR-15 scope! Your search is over. The Ultimate AR-15 Scope combines a 3-9x42 tactical scope with a Compact Red Dot sight for close-quarters, quick reaction shooting. Now you get the best of both worlds... long range precision and super fast close range target acquisition.

NEW - Choose from Three Different Mini Red Dots!
  • Standard 2MOA Mini Dot Sight
  • Burris Fastfire III 3MOA Dot
  • Burris Fastfire III 8MOA Dot

The AR-15 is a unique weapon in that it's useful for everything from self-defense to varmint hunting or just plinking. We've always thought you need a scope that can do it all in order to get the most from your AR-15. Since the introduction of the compact red dot sights, we've seen how combining the red dot with a regular scope gives you the perfect AR-15 sighting system.

Until now, if you've wanted a system like this, it would cost twice as much as you spent on your rifle! We're proud to introduce the Ultimate AR-15 Scope as the solution for your AR-15 at a price anyone can afford. You can stop looking for your new AR-15 scope... this is it!

Choose from two different reticles:

Some of you may have read reviews on this scope that show the standard mini red dot in poor light.  I’m the first to admit that it has had some problems.  About 5% of the regular mini red dot sights come back to us and we replace them.  That’s a higher return rate than we’d like, but the manufacturer is working on it and we like to tell everyone that 95 out of 100 work perfectly!  This is a great scope package.  We’ve sold thousands of these scopes and we have thousand of very happy customers!  You can’t go wrong with the Ultimate AR-15 scope!

Colt 6720R Talo Edition

Colt 6720R Talo Edition
Colt 6720R Talo Edition
In fifth place, Colt chambered the Talo 6720R for 5.56 NATO as well as .223 Remington. It is no shock that this is one of our top sellers since it comes with a solid list of features. Some of these include the new Rogers Super-Stoc, Colt free float quad rail, Magpul MOE grip, MBUS flip up sights, and above all the Colt pony stamped on the side of the receiver. It’s a beast for a decent price. The 1:7 twist on the inside of the barrel can stabilize heaver projectiles, and the low profile gas block allows more room for goodies. You could do worse when picking out a rifle.

Colt AR-15 Magpul MOE 6920

Colt AR-15 Magpul MOE 6920
Colt AR-15 Magpul MOE 6920
Shocking—another Colt coming in fourth place. You would think these guys enjoyed making ARs or something. The Colt 6920 is extremely close to what the military issues our soldiers around the world. It is one of the highest quality rifles on this list, and yet we sold a ton of these things. Barrel twist rate is 1/7, one complete bullet revolution per seven inches of barrel, which is the military specification and which will effectively stabilize bullets from 55 grains to 77 grains in weight. They say the devil is in the details, and a detailed analysis of this gun will show it to be made of superior materials and workmanship. For nearly two decades now the 6920 has stood as the epitome of the M4 Carbine, and the loyalty to Colt and their design shows in the sales of this model.

Bushmaster M4A3 Patrolman’s Semi Automatic Carbine

Bushmaster M4A3
Bushmaster M4A3
The famous bushmaster name has been the misguided focus of attention from the media due to recent tragic events. One of Bushmaster’s most popular carbine models, the M4 type features a distinctive military barrel profile and six position telescoping buttstock-great for 3 Gun Match shooting, home defense and law enforcement use. The Bushmaster A2 & A3 type Patrolman’s carbines are similar to the M4 type carbines, but with additional barrel length to make them legal for sale to individual officers and civilians. They feature a chrome-lined barrel, birdcage flash suppressor, A3 upper receiver with picatinny rail, and removable carry handle and rear sight.

Colt LE6920

Colt LE6920 AR-15
Colt LE6920 AR-15
Coming in second is the venerable Colt LE6920 chambered in 5.5 NATO is as authentic as a semi auto AR-15 gets. Incorporating a 4-position retractable stock, M4 handguards with dual heat shield, flattop upper with removable carry handle, 1:7-inch twist, chrome lined barrel, and of course, the Colt pony on the receiver. It may look like a basic AR from the outside, but the buttstock is sturdy, and aside from some added optics, I wouldn’t change a thing. You don’t get the fancy free floating quad rail hand guards, but to be honest, I really don’t care. It’s a great rifle to start off with and it wouldn’t take much to upgrade any parts you wish. The core of this weapon is solid, and I wouldn’t scoff if I saw one at the range.

Windham Weaponry SRC

Windham Weaponry SRC
Windham Weaponry SRC
The winner for the absolute top  AR-15. The Windham Weaponry SRC, chambered in 5.56 NATO, it makes an economical choice for a functional flat top AR-15. If you haven’t heard of Windham Weaponry, you should read more. The former owner of Bushmaster runs Windham Weaponry, with the same machines and specialists that made Bushmaster. After selling the Bushmaster name to a conglomerate, they just turned the machines back on and started making Windham. The flat top upper receiver and gas block provide you versatility to mount the optic of your choice with the option for easy mounting of backup sights. It incorporates a number of quality features including a 16-inch chrome lined barrel with 1:9-inch twist, flattop upper, and two-piece plastic handguards. The result is a rifle that is ready for ammunition and a trip to the range. When we started selling Windham rifles, I knew informed shoppers would gravitate towards them, so its no surprise that this rifle finished in first place.

ArmaLite AR-15

The AR-15 is a lightweight, 5.56 mm, magazine-fed, semi-automatic rifle, with a rotating-lock bolt, actuated by direct impingement gas operation or long/short stroke piston operation. It is manufactured with the extensive use of aluminum alloys and synthetic materials.
The AR-15 was first built by ArmaLite as an assault rifle for the United States armed forces. Because of financial problems, ArmaLite sold the AR-15 design to Colt. The select-fire version of the AR-15 entered the U.S. military system as the M16 rifle. Colt then started selling the semi-automatic version of the M16 rifle as the Colt AR-15 for civilian sales in 1963. Although the name "AR-15" remains a Colt registered trademark, variants of the firearm are independently made, modified and sold under various names by multiple manufacturers.

Semi-automatic AR-15s for sale to civilians are internally different from the full automatic M16, although nearly identical in external appearance. The hammer and trigger mechanisms are of a different design. The bolt carrier and internal lower receiver of semi-automatic versions are milled differently, so that the firing mechanisms are not interchangeable. This was done to satisfy United States Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) requirements that civilian weapons may not be easily convertible to full-automatic. In the late 1970s and early '80s, items such as the "Drop In Auto Sear" or "lightning-link," conversion to full automatic was very straightforward (sometimes requiring machining of the lower receiver with use of a lathe and M16 Bolt Carrier Group). Such modifications, unless using registered and transferable parts made prior to May 19, 1986, are illegal. (The Firearm Owners Protection Act in 1986 has redefined a machine gun to include individual components where a semi-automatic firearm can be converted to full-automatic based on a 1981 ATF ruling on machine gun parts.) Since 1993, The Bolt Carrier Groups used in AR-15 type rifles for civilians have employed additional measures to prevent modification to full auto. Colt AR-15's use a metal alloy wall separating the Fire Control group from the Sear, preventing use of such items.
Automatic variants have a three-position rotating selective fire switch, allowing the operator to select between three modes: safe, semi-automatic, and either automatic or three-round burst, depending on model. Civilian Colt AR-15 models do not have three-round burst or automatic settings on the fire selector, though some other makers may mark that way for collectors and re-enactors, even though the guns will not fire in that mode. In semi-automatic only variants, the selector only rotates between safe and semi-automatic. Due to this, weapons modified to full automatic using a lightning-link are capable of full automatic fire only—unless a special full automatic fire select mechanism and modified selector-switch is substituted.
